Currently three years into our partnership with Zambian-based Makolekole Foundation we have seen the organization consistently deliver on average 35 new boreholes per year to rural villages in the Luangwa Valley. They are on target to complete 500 boreholes in the next five years.

Each year, thousands of people who previously lacked access to a convenient, safe or reliable water source are now experiencing improved health, educational prospects, community resilience and more. A local water source also reduces incidences of human/wildlife conflict which sadly results in loss of life on both sides.

Makolekole works in partnership with communities to bring clean, safe water closer to home. By drilling simple, durable boreholes and ensuring people in the community are equipped to use and maintain them, they establish water sources that will be reliable for years to come. All work is done in partnership with local leaders who bring crucial knowledge of their communities’ needs to the conversation.

Makolekole USA is a registered 501c3 in the U.S. that raises funds for Makolekole in Zambia. If you are interested in learning more or would like to make a donation you can visit their website here.
